5 Easy Tips For Pinterest (and an Outfit!)

First things first, no my hair did not magically grow over night. I just had these pictures from a month ago and never got around to writing the post for this look. My intention was to share some meaning information that I learned from attending the social media session given by Simply Stylist. If you're in LA, I recommend attending their monthly sessions that are 3 hours and are on various topics in the blogging realm and it's great to meet other bloggers like Ciera who took these pictures. But anyway let's bring it back to what I took away about Pinterest. Sure Pinterest has taken a bit of the backburner when it comes to social media and everyone talking about Instagram and Snapchat, but it really made me think twice about my focus. Here are the 5 tips I found valuable.

1. Pinterest is the new Google which is exactly why I am really focusing on Pinterest. Think about it though. How many times do you resort to Pinterest to search for something? Whether it be DIY's or easy cocktail recipes, Pinterest always saves the day! Remember that one time you couldn't get your nail polish bottle to open? Yeah, Pinterest had the answer. So what does that mean for your blog? It means people can find your pretty blog and it's the type of traffic you want.

2.  Captions are gold! Remember the key to be found on Pinterest to get that traffic back to your blog, so make sure your captions  are informative and what people would be searching for. Oh, and no hashtags here.

3. Pin evenings and weekends for maximum exposure.

4. Do the chop test. Pins with your head don't do as well like below. People searching for outfits find it easier to see themselves wearing the outfit if they can't see a face. I'm totally still working on consistently practicing this one.
But this vertical no head typically does.
Oh, and don't do the chop head test on a horizontal like this. Vertical just always wins!
6. Pinterest is the only platform where your content lives forever! That might be more of reason than a tip, but I mean with all that hard work and time you put into your posts you want it to live forever. Okay, maybe you don't want that one post where the lighting was bad and your shirt was all wrinkled. But all the other ones that are amazing, riiight?

Hope these tips helped! If you have any to share, I would love to hear!
