Best of 2014

I know, I know- you can't believe it's the last day of the year, right? I'm right there with ya! So while sitting in traffic the other day (that happens quite a bit in LA) I thought it would be fun to do a little recap of this year's outfits. I don't know about you, but that turned out to be good and bad. I'm mean not every outfit is a winner. Not everyday was the best hair day. Not every picture was as clear as I would like. But BUT it reminded me of places I've gone and different looks I've tried out that did work. In order to find out what does work, you have to try out some that just don't (even though at the time you do think it does work). So here ya go! I think you might pick up on what I'm fond of.

Moto obessed last January and still am!

All of these pieces are what I would say are casually me-plaid, grey, and leather! And my hair was shorter too!
A little bit of print mixing with this floral shift dress and I think I should dig this up again!
One of my favorite tricks is finding pieces to layer and this lace top under a tee is a great way to change things up.

Continuing on with the layering and clearing I'm into this plaid flannel and grey tee;)
It took me some time to discover the amazingness of TJ Maxx, but this floral top is still one of my best finds. Oh and my love for braids began!
This really might take the cake of all my pictures. My good friend Marissa (follow her on IG) took me around LA and it never disappoints. I mean I never wear all black and it was perfect against this mural.
Once I got my hands on a panama hat and these espadrilles, it was paired with e v e r y t h i n g including this floral maxi.
The boyfriend and I love making trips to downtown and he found this park that overlooks the skyline, but also happened to be the perfect spot for blog pictures in this floral dress.
The prettiest boho lace top could only mean panama hat time! There's a funny story about these jeans too, which you can read here.
Okay so this moto jacket has been on serious rotation all year, but how could I not wear it with this shift?
And not but least my favorite look has to be another with my moto jacket but with this unbelievably great sequin skirt. It might just be my New Year's Eve look.

What was your favorite look of 2014? Have a safe New Year's Eve! I'm off to Santa Barbara for a staycation.

Bundled in Plaid

Well I guess you can say I took a little break from the blog, but totally unintentional. From last minute shopping to celebrating Christmas all while working full time, something had to give. And really it's such a special time of year that should be spent offline. But I was able to snap this outfit on Christmas using my new 40 mm lens that the boyfriend gave me. Thank goodness he's more into researching things than I am because who knows when I actually would upgrade! It's a nice switch from the 50 mm, but I'll make sure to report back about it. Now, let's talk about this plaid coat. This has been the apple of my eye for weeks and weeks. But I resisted and resisted and then that magic four letter word that every woman loves to hear happened-SALE! A few clicks later and it was mine. The coat and I have been pretty inseparable for the past few days, which I'm totally okay with.

How was your holiday? Any plans for New Year's?

Holiday Sequins

Last year I have to admit, I was OBSESSED with sequins. This year not so much, but when I saw this floral sequin skirt it was game on. And the second I knew my work was having a holiday party, there was no turning back on this gem. Initially, I planned on wearing it with a black turtleneck but found a metallic silver tshirt, which I honestly had no clue if it would work with the skirt. I probably shouldn't go shopping the day before the party and without the skirt. I took a chance and I have to say I think it worked out so well. Now I just want to live in this outfit! Definitely will be repeating in the next week or so.

P.s Have you finished your Christmas shopping? I still need a few last minute things. Any suggestions for
white elephant gifts?

Navy and Black

Happy Tuesday! It's been a bit a whirlwind around here, but I guess you can say I've been all over the
place and it doesn't seem like it's going to stop anytime soon. Let's just start with these pictures and this is probably as close as I will get to having a couples outfit post with my other half. It might just be my favorite photo of us so far. Saturday we headed to Temecula for the first time with his family for some wine tasting. We are big wine fans and finally tried it out, but it still doesn't beat Santa Barbara. What can I say I'm a beach girl that loves wine! But you know what will always make sense when you go wine tasting? Hats! Doesn't matter the season just add a hat. I just knew this navy hat would be the perfect occasion to break it out for the first time. It's 30% off till today, so I'd snatch one up if I were you. Which brings me back to work, I just wanted to thank you for the love on Instagram last week on Sole Society's account. Guess you can say the cat's out of the bag-I work for Sole Society and my shoe and accessory collection is g-r-o-w-i-n-g by the paycheck!

P.s. You can't see the pretty details of this top, but trust me you need to see here!

Swinging in Paisley

Well I just can't deny my love for a good shift or swing dress and this just had to be mine! I really did try not to, but then my girlfriend sent me a text with this dress saying this is so you. Maybe I'm predictable or maybe it was a clear sign. I took it as a sign to get the dress. For the cooler months, it's perfect with a moto jacket and OTK boots. But I know it will be just as cute during the warmer months with sandals. No matter what though, it's always great for a twirling.

Hope you're having a great week!

Grey Jeans

I don' know what it is lately. I just can't seem to get enough, but grey is something that I just keep being drawn to. Not so good for everyone getting a gift from me this year. But since I've been on the hunt for jeans and the second I saw these grey pair at Zara, I knew it was meant to be. Mixed in with my favorite top (last seen here and here), purse, and heels, it's a nice change from my blue jeans.

P.s. If you are looking for a bag that's big enough to fit your DSLR and more without the bulk, this purse is perfect!

Dream Top

When it's meant to be, it's just meant to be. I kept putting this white top in my shopping cart day after day, but never hit the click button. That was back in the summer months. Fast forward to November and guess what pops up at the Ruche sample sale? Nothing other than the top (navy version, dress version) I debated so much about for only $7! That's right $7. It was a pinch me moment. I felt like I won a marathon or something. Well, I guess that's what I imagine winning a marathon is like-this girl doesn't run. And let's move on to that thing hanging from my shoulder known as a purse. Seriously, I don't know the last time I've bought a purse. I had been carrying around canvas totes since markets and Target don't give out bags these days, which isn't the most stylish. Then there's the whole carrying around my big camera, but I can report that this little bag fits a DSLR. So you can expect to see this cute purse a lot.

P.s. Don't forget to enter yesterday's giveaway!
