Spa Week Is Coming!

There's something you need to put on your calendar because I didn't even know this existed and it's that good it almost sounds unreal. Spa Week. Yes, it's real and under the radar for a good reason. A select group of spas across the nation participate to offer certain services for $50 dollars. Saaay what? Facials, massages, waxes--all $50! Spa week runs from April 17-23rd and you can see what's in your area here.

They have every type of spa and treatment you could think of. Since I've been leaning towards natural and organic beauty products, I was so excited to find Supernatural Skin in my side of town that offers a holistic approach to skincare from the Spa Week list. You don't even know how rare that is in this part of the Los Angeles area.

Let's just say I got pampered and left with a wealth of knowledge. I opted for the Osmosis Holistic Facial + LED Treatment, which normally is $140. So you can see why this is the time to book your spa treatments.

From the second I stepped inside Supernatural Skin, I was immediately immersed into a little sanctuary. Jane, the owner, welcomed and eased me through the entire process. Truthfully, I felt like I had 5 facials and a massage in the hour or so time span. Oh, and she gave me samples of the products she used. But if there's anything I learned from Jane it's to use Vitamin A and C and antioxidants to keep your skin in shape.

Can we talk about how glowing my skin was? Oh my gawd, it was amazing!

Now, excuse me while I go book more spa visits and this facial for my mom. You can check out the spas in your are at Spa Week's website.

Thank you Spa Week for allowing me to review a spa. All my opinions are my own, honest views.

Easy $3 Face Mask

First, I have to say thank you for all your kind words in my last post. Part of me still can't believe I actually put that on the internet, but the other part of me is so relieved. From all this, I hope to bring some good to this little space.

Now in keeping my word about providing some clean beauty, I thought I'd get right to it. Let me say that I'm normally just an expert at pinning all the DIY's and recipes, but never make the things. So if that sounds like you too, then know that this turmeric face mask is for you. It's just 2 ingredients and takes 60 seconds to whip together if you include opening the ingredients.

If the 2 ingredients and time doesn't sell you, you'll love the benefits. Turmeric is full of antioxidants and antibacterial properties. So if your skin's glow looks like it's been in hibernation? This will take care of that!  Not that you should be concerned, but it wrinkle fighter. Oh, it's an anti-inflammatory meaning it's your BFF for acne. Basically, there's too many reasons.

TURMERIC (& HONEY) FACE MASK:

  • 1 tbs Turmeric
  • 1 tbs Plain Greek Yogurt (if you're lazy and want the benefits of honey, get the one with honey)

1. Mix turmeric and yogurt in small bowl.
2. Put mixture on clean skin. I like using the spoon I mixed everything with to help keep my hands         clean.
3. Let sit for 10-15 minutes and pass the time checking that Instagram feed.
4. Wash off. Yes, your skin might be a little yellow (that or I was paranoid), but it does subside. I           also recommend doing this mask at night.

Let me know if you try this out! It's super easy and my skin looked SO good the next morning I went sans makeup.

What's Ahead

sweater // jeans // booties // hat // purse

So I've been going back and forward with what to share and what exactly I want to keep blogging about. Truthfully, I'm not one to pour my heart out about the down right hard things in life. I mean you guys come here for fashion and to escape everyday life, right? But let me start by saying that 2016 shook me to my very core and still is effecting me now (even though I'd like to say it's not). It's changed me and my perspective. It's changed what I want to post about. So I feel like I have to start sharing right now about why you'll see some new types of posts.

The C word-otherwise know as cancer. Even now, this is hard to type. In May, my sister gave me the bone chilling news she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 42. My heart sank. My world felt like it turned upside down. In the midst of dealing with my sister, two months later, we get the news my mom has early signs of breast cancer. WHAT!!! This doesn't make any sense. This isn't suppose to happen. And why? But silence. There are no answers. And then you start to wonder about yourself-your health. All three of us.

Lots of changes have been made. Let's just say we all went down a rabbit hole of learning and searching. I felt like I had to do something to prevent this. Maybe it's someway to feel in control of something that takes it all away. In no ways am I trying to preach, but it down to food and home and beauty products. Understanding the food that goes in our bodies and the products we choose to use. And that's where you'll see some changes here.

Get ready for clean beauty posts! Over the past year, I've worked on switching my beauty products and it's not always pretty. It was hard. You don't know where to start. Where do you shop? Is Sephora okay? Is the makeup I've been wearing for the last decade safe? I'm no way an expert, but don't want you to be that girl standing at Whole Foods building up a sweat over finding a new deodorant. Yup! Been there, done that! And worse, actually spending $10 on a deodorant that leaves you embarrassingly stinky. Yeah, that happened, too. So you know, I'll share the good, the bad and the smelly with you.

P.s The linkup is BACK!

3 Drugstore Green Beauty Buys

The truth is that some very heavy stuff in my life has been going on to really waken my eyes to what products I'm using especially in the beauty department. Let me say it's daunting to learn about all the chemicals that are allowed to be put in makeup, nail polish, and perfume. It's also overwhelming to try to find beloved replacements or new clean beauty lines that you've never heard of to replace what you've come to love. Let me tell ya' I am not one to test out too many beauty products or change up my face. I roughly have 5 tried and true products in my makeup bag that have been with me for a decade. So after being sad and confused about what's safe and what actually works, I found a few lines at local drugstores that got me started in cleaning up my makeup bag.

1. Defy & Inspire Nail Polish - it's a line by the people who have it all-Target. They formulated it to be free the common 5 toxic ingredients and have names that are after your favorite T.V shows. I picked up Dynasty, a pinkish nude, that is reminiscent of Essie's Ballet Slippers or Barefoot and Topless.

2. Burt's Bee - I think we've all heard of them for skincare, but the line has been expanding more and more with makeup. I've been hooked on their face wipes for sometime-super soft by the way. But found them to have great nude lipsticks that live up to my Mac and Nars go-to, only these are safer. Blush Basin and Suede Splash are the two I picked up.

3. Pacifica - you'll find the line conveniently at most Targets, but healthier markets like Whole Foods and Spouts carry it too. It ranges from makeup, skincare, and perfume. And if you're a package junkie, it doesn't disappoint! One thing I knew I wanted a replacement for immediately was my perfume. Lots of chemicals go into making perfumes and one big red flag that has been noted is seeing anything that says fragrance you put down. The line has several roller ball perfumes that are around $12, so doesn't break the bank even to try. Tahitian Gardenia is a combination of Gardenia and Jasmine-totally up my alley!

My goal is definitely not to bring fear, but awareness. Just like what we put in our bodies, what we put on it can affect our health. I'm still learning about what makes a line green and ingredients to avoid, but plan on sharing more as I go. If you have any favorite green beauty lines you love, please share them.

Saving on Beauty & Health Services

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

It's no secret being a woman is expensive. From the manicures, haircuts, blowouts, it all adds up and fast. But that shouldn't stop you from doing some pampering, right? Nope! Pampering yourself is just a great source of relaxing and we all can use some me time.

Now you want to know how I've been saving on beauty services? It's Groupon. Time to get a mani, I check Groupon because you just never knew it might be half off. Yup, it's a treat yourself and your wallet!  Heck, I've been even thinking about using it for lasik. These eyes aren't what they used to be (sad face). Really the Health, Beauty, & Wellness Groupons are amazing! There's so many local hair and nail salons that offer deals that are just too good to pass up. It's been a way to try new salons and it's just a win-win. I get my pampering without going over budget and the business get's well more business and opportunity to gain a loyal customer. And let's not forget that they have all those fancy yoga and workout places at a steal! It's how I found my yoga studio that I absolutely love!

Have you tried Groupon for salons or fitness?

Skincare Routine

While I'm one to keep things minimal when it comes to my makeup and skincare (okay, I'm lazy), I've always focused on having good skin. For many years, I just thought that meant washing and moisturizing with nothing special. I've never really gave any thought about the products and what's actually in them, but hellooo Adri this is your face and you should care. I've started to make a few changes and switched to using more natural products. Because who wants harsh chemicals on your face? Not me....anymore! For washing, I use this, but have been finishing off with Palmetto Derma toner and collagen boosting serum. They have a motto of 'be barefaced & confident!' and that is something I'm all about. I have started to wear less makeup and my skin has a more natural glow to it. Oh, and everything smells good too!

Have you tired or use any natural skincare lines?

Spring Beauty Favorites

Happy happy Friday friends! Anyone have nothing planned but really excited for the weekend like me? Anyway, I don't really share much about beauty around here mainly because I feel like a novice. However, these 3 are what I'm currently reaching for and can't get enough of.

Living Proof Instant Texture: This is one of those brands that I kept hearing about and on my list to try. I racked up enough points at Sephora to get this sample size and couldn't stop using it! It's basically the perfect product to help give you that beachy hair. Personally, I put it in when my hair is wet and braid my hair, go to sleep, and wake up to the perfect waves. I plan on picking up the full sized version this weekend since I'm all out of my sample. Oh, and it smells amazing!

L'Occitane Jasmin & Bergamote Fragrance: And since I'm crazy about good smelling hair stuff I'm all for a great fragrance. I'm obsessed with anything jasmine-tea, flowers, candles, ice cream....you get it. I'm obsessed! This fragrance has the perfect amount of jasmine to get my fix and mixed with the bergamote-perfect! I also love that I don't smell it on anyone else. I won't go there, but let's just say I'm a little fickle about smelling my perfume on every other woman.

Essie Polish in Tart Deco: No matter how many years go by, but I always find myself gravitating towards this epic Spring/Summer color around this time of year. It looks great against so many skin complexions and just adds a fun pop of color. For me, it's a classic.

If you have a beauty favorite that I must try, I want to hear!

Natural 5 Minute Face with Glo Minerals

When it comes to makeup, I'm all about quick and natural. Don't get me wrong, I want to look put together and look my best. But this girl doesn't have much time Monday-Friday and I literally only have about 5 minutes for makeup. Enter Glo Minerals and boom a new spin on my 5 minute natural makeup look. It's light, very natural, and the perfect day look.
I started with my eyes using the Eye Shadow Trio in Sandstone. Then, I lined my top lids with black eyeliner.
If there's one thing you will never catch me with out, it's bronzer. A big swirl and applied to the apples of the check and along the cheek bones. This Glo Mineral Bronzer in Sunkiss added a natural summer like glow that I love!

Then it's lips! I applied their lipstick in Spark and then layered it with their gloss in Delight. It's the perfect coral lip combo!

All done! Hope you enjoyed this easy and natural makeup look!

Have a great start to your week!
