Denim Midi Skirt

tshirt // skirt c/o Banana Republic // purse // shoes

There's some days that I don't think I need another denim piece in my closet (remember this post?). Then, there's days like this one--hello, midi skirt! While the longer length might seem more conservative, I have to say I felt more va-va-voom with it hugging all my curves. To my surprise, the boyfriend was a fan, too. If you're anything like me (loves high waisted pieces but not the discomfort from sitting), you'll appreciate all the stretch in this midi. OH YESS! And let me just say I felt mighty fancy shopping at Costco and Trader Joe's that day. Oh, and do yourself a favor and pick up these cute can wines. Tried and tested by yours truly:)

Okay, so let's flashback to last year's look here. It's another fun denim outfit. Well, somethings don't change lol! I picked up those wide leg jeans on a sale whim from Madewell, which you might want to check out the sale section because it's SO good!

Thank you for all of you who keep coming back each week to linkup with Jessica and I! Truly means so much and we love to see your posts!

Madewell Fitting Room Try On's: Fall Collection

cute clothes from madewell

Happy Friday friends! You know my obsession with Madewell and you can say it was one exciting day this week the second I saw all the new fall pieces hit the site! I immediately jumped in the car and went over to see all the new goodies. Oh gosh, I have to say it doesn't disappoint! From the cozy sweaters to all the velvet, it has me excited for fall! See my last try on's with other fall pieces, so much is on sale, too! Here are the pieces that I tried on and how they fit:

embroidered floral sweater

embroidered floral sweater

EMBROIDERED CUTOFF SWEATSHIRT $85 // Wearing XX-Small
This actually launched a little while ago, but just was able to try it on. Oh, you guys it's SO cozy! The sizing is huge, so I went down a size. As you can see, it's still roomy. You can definitely go down two sizes if possible. The embroidery is very detailed and does make this sweatshirt special.

grey velvet top

VELVET BUTTON-DOWN CAMI $85 // Wearing size 00
Truthfully, I was hoping to try on this other cami, but the second I walked in and saw this cami I totally forgot about my original hope. It comes in a stunning mustard, too. Mind you I have a short torso, so it hits just at the hips. But the length could easily be an issue if you have a long torso. The straps are not adjustable. While it did fit nicely in the chest, it felt a smudge too small where it hits at the hip. I didn't try the size up, but imagine it would solve this. And I did try to unbutton the bottom, but they were not budging. Truly, this would a stunning addition for all the holidays coming up (crazy to say holidays).

star print top

SILK STAR SCATTER TIE-SLEEVE TOP $118 // Wearing XX-Small
I have to say I'm not that into star prints, but ever since trying on this top here I've come around. So I wasn't too surprised when I tried on this silk top. The silk and details do make it modern and classic at the same time. Again, I had the same issue with this as the cami above being a little snug around the hips. But going up a size would still be just as cute. I did love this top tucked in, too. It would be a great addition for an office job and casually. That's a win for me.

grey bodysuit

WRAP BODYSUIT $49 // Wearing Small
I don't know what it is about a good bodysuit, but I feel like I can conquer the world. If there's one thing to add to your basics, I would grab this. The material is nice and thick, which is perfect for the colder temps coming. It comes in black and already thinking I need that too. And it goes with everything (see below).

pink velvet skirt

VELVETEEN UPTOWN ZIP SKIRT $88 // Wearing size 2
Ever since I haven't had too much success with skirts, I don't tend to try them on. But on a whim thought it would pair well with the bodysuit. Well, it did look good. The sizing was just right. Normally, I have to size up with their skirts. The length was also just right, not too short or too long. The velveteen material would add so much texture to a look, which I find fun for fall.

star print skirt

SILK RUFFLE-EDGE STAR SKIRT IN STAR SCATTER $88 // Wearing size 2
Yes, this is the same star print from above. Turns out it's cute in the skirt version. There's a subtle ruffle at the bottom. And goes perfectly with this bodysuit. Again, I found the sizing to be true to size, which seems like Madewell has some consistency with their sizing this collection.

white lace top

SEZANE NINON LACE TOP $125 // Wearing size 34
Maybe I'm the last to get my hands on trying Sezane, but I was immediately drawn to this top the second I walked into the store. The quality on this is just so good, which justifies the price. It also made me feel very French just give me some wine (white wine because I don't trust myself with red in this top).

black floral dress

SILK POPPY DRESS IN WILD BOTANTIC $148 // Wearing size 6
After seeing this dress on display several times, I've been itching to try it on. While I never am a size 6, it was the closest size they had to my usual size. But honestly this dress does run a little small. If I was going for a more relaxed look, I do think I could get away this size. The classic fit and the print sold me. You can go from desk to drinks in this one. Luckily, they are fully stocked online with this one.

wrap pencil skirt

black lace top

EYELET RUFFLE-FRONT BLOUSE $82 // Wearing size M
RAW HEM DENIM MIDI SKIRT $89.50 //  Wearing size 26

As you know I go into this store a lot, so when I saw this skirt on the rack it was a must try this on. The top was just because it should look nice with this skirt. And yes, it sure did. The skirt is SO flattering, but with all my tippy toe standing it does need heels. The denim is thick, but has some stretch. It does run true to size. The top (and whole outfit) make me feel like I should be roaming around the streets of Paris. The top is done so well, with a quality eyelet material. I was only wearing a nude bra underneath, but adding a cami would make it appropriate for work.

Hope you found this helpful! Let me know if you have any favorites!

Styling a Denim Skirt

top (similar) // skirt (on sale!) // espadrilles (go up 1/2 size) // purse // sunglasses

I'll be the first to admit that my style is based on ease and comfort. And I might be guilty of wearing jeans like it's my second skin. But figured I could step out of my usual jean pants into it's sister, the jean skirt. Guess what? It was the highlight of my outfits that week. I felt like people in the office just saw my legs for the first time because there were a heap of compliments. It's one of those pieces that has enough details and simplicity at the same time. While I decided to rewear it for the weekend with stripes (you can never go wrong with stripes, right?). For the office, I actually went more minimal and wore a simple white tee and this long cardi. In the fall, I know I'll just add some tall boots.

Anyway, it's time to flashback to last year's look here. Funny enough, it's about denim! Clearly, we can agree denim will always be a closet staple.

Styling Gingham for Fall

jacket (size xs) // dress (size 0) // booties

You may have remember seeing this dress before and that's because it was in this post here. When I fell for this dress, I knew we were on the cusp of entering Fall (maybe too hopeful for LA), so I gave myself a challenge. I needed to come up with several ways to style this if I am going to keep it. My closet gets filled too easily with one hit wonders and I'm waiting for the day that the boyfriend realizes when my stuff starts making it to his side of the closet. While the temperatures might not be cool enough outside for moto jackets, pairing this moto jacket and booties instantly updates this dress. And when it's really chilly, putting on some tights and a chunky scarf will make this dress work.

Thank you for all of you linking up! It really makes us so happy to look at your posts for inspiration!
