3 Ways to Wear Flares

3 ways to style flare jeans

One item in my closet that I've been loving are these flare jeans. It can be slightly intimidating to try if you've been rocking skinny jeans for sometime. But it's an easy way to add an instant umph to your lady curves! Just make sure you wear them with a wedge or heel to keep the leg looking long. So here are some simple ways to style them.
Going back to basics really can never fail! With a simple tee, it's an easy yet effortless look. I would say this is a great back up outfit for those days that nothing seems to be working.
Now if you need a more polished look or feeling fancy, just add a blazer and done! This is a look that I turn to when I need a business casual look, but still want have some style.
Now if you want just have some fun and play into the 70's vibe, try pairing your flares with a kimono and let out your inner hippie. I know I did;) As requested, this is where you can find my kimono (under $20!).

Can you see yourself wearing flares this season? Let me know if there's any trend you want to see styled!

Double Stripes

Sometimes I think my weekend style is actually dressier than the weekdays. But when the weekday (looking at you Monday) starts I'm always looking for casual put together looks that trick people into thinking it was a breeze getting out of bed. Stripes on stripes is just one of those ways. Not only do you get a little pattern play for visual appeal, but mixing vertical and horizontal stripes keeps you looking slim and tall.

Thanks so much for reading! xo

The Shoe Swap

casual weekend style
While I love the ease of the weekend, some weekends are just full of places to be, people to see, and things to-do (hello Tar-jay!). Even though I love to play dress-up, sometimes that's just not possible and there's only time for one outfit for the day. Here's where the shoe swap comes in!
weekend style with sneakers
With the sneaker trend happening, it's clear that it's fashionable to look stylish and comfortable. These leopard sneakers are my go to for errands and look great with skirts and dresses. But later I had to hop on over to something a little fancier...
weekend style with sandals

It was time for a nice weekend brunch and I wanted to step it up literally. Bringing another pair of shoes is just way easier than a whole outfit and a simple style trick!

Hope you have a great Monday! xo

Craving Lately: Easy Summer Looks

cute summer outfits

1, 2, 3, 4, 5
So maybe I'm jumping ahead a season here (ok clearly I am), but I just love the ease of summer fashion. Really this post should be about those sandals, but that seemed a little obsessive. So instead I've been creating outfits around them because that's not obsessive. The good news-they are versatile. The bad news-I've now talked myself into two dresses, sunglasses, and a bag on top of the sandals. What have you been
craving lately?

P.s. There's an interview up over on His Little Lady!

High five for Friday!

Dressed Up Shorts

While I must say that all these pieces are one's that I've forgotten about, paired together they create a polished yet modern look. These leather shorts have made several appearances around this blog and I know I will continue to find new ways to wear them. Shorts can seem a little tricky to dress up, but adding long sleeve blouse gives them a unexpected polished look.

So I know I've never talked makeup around here for good reasons-I rarely try something new. I keep it pretty simple. But after wandering around Target for unreasonable amount I came home with the lipstick I have on. And I have to say that this coral color feels so me. I guess I should have figured this out sooner just look at my coral nail polish!

Happy almost Friday!

So so close to naming this post pajama pants. They really are that comfortable. And if we can conclude anything from this week it's that I love florals (including flowers) and this jean jacket. But back to the pants. They are bold, loud, and oh so fun! I honestly wasn't sure how much I would wear them, but I've been coming up with different ways. The key to a bold printed pant is keeping everything else simple. Unfortunately, these exact pair aren't online anymore, but there's some good options from this brand here.

Hope you're having a great week! xo

These shorts have been waiting for a day like today-a beautiful warm sunny day. These are actually shorts I pulled for my client, the one who went to Brazil and wouldn't take me;) While I'm not jetting off to some dream vacation, I had to go back for these shorts. Just how I knew they were so versatile for her even after her vacation, they certainly would be better in my closet and who knows when I might go to Brazil? Hey, I'm hopeful and proactively planning!

Lately, I've been reaching for some basic pieces in my closet and finding new ways to wear them. This shirtdress hasn't seen enough days outside my closet and that has to change. While it's great on it's own, mixing in some fun prints is great to add some personality to it and if you can't tell already but I love any chance to layer. I know print mixing can be a little too bold for some or maybe certain 9-5's, but wearing them on separate halves of the body really tones it down. I know I'm technically mixing three prints with the tote (not that there's anything wrong with that), but you can blame that on the ban of plastic bags here in California and my spontaneous trips to Trader Joe's and needing to lug it gracefully. A girl's gotta fill up on flowers and chocolate for the week!

Hope you had a nice visit from the Easter bunny! xo

Craving Lately: Graphic Tshirts

womens graphic tshirts
If there's one thing that I could live in, it's a cute graphic tshirt. And when they each have a little personality to match your current mood, it's pretty touch to narrow it down to just one. Four is one that I recently just found and I have to say it's right on point for just about every woman out there! Am I riiight?

Cheers to the weekend! xo

Printed Shift Dress

Springs a funny thing, well weather wise, that is. While I'm ready to pop on my sandals and cute dresses, it's still crisp and cool in the mornings and evenings. But you know what? It's perfect to get a little extra time with my favorites from fall. Until it warms up enough for this girl to handle a little chill, then I'll just dream up wearing this dress with some sandals.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback on yesterday's post of my styling work! It's something that I enjoy and hope to keep sharing here. Unfortunately, I'm still in LA and my client wasn't convinced that taking her personal stylist to Brazil was a great idea. We settled on a postcard.

Hope you're having a great week! xo

Styling the Jetsetter

Over the past couple of weeks, I've been working my client Nelly to get her ready for her trip to Brazil (yeah, I'm still trying to talk her into taking me). Her main challenge was building just enough looks for 12 days using as much as possible from her current wardrobe, which mostly is office apparel.
We actually did a quick shopping session prior to seeing her closet, which is a little unorthodox but in the end it worked out. Together we found some basics and items that would be fun for this dream trip and would still love to wear after her trip.

Taking pieces that we bought and mixing from her closet, I was able to create more than enough outfits from 18 pieces. Not only does she have a no fuss plan of what to wear, Nelly has a suitcase that actually has room for souvenirs!

Happy Hump Day!

Spring Time Maxi

how to style a maxi dress

I mentioned my love for Free People yesterday and not realizing it but this maxi is another piece from
them. Unfortunately, it's from last year which just shows you a little taste of how I'm drawn to FP year after year. Because of the neckline it can make it hard to wear alone if your not having Summer weather but it seemed like the perfect dress to channel my love for some boho vibes (it was Coachella weekend). So my trusty chambray fixed that right up! Oh and let's talk about the killer views. Any opportunity I get to go downtown, I'm pretty much there. This was on the roof of the Unique Space where my crazy talented friend Marissa has a studio. She does a monthly beer tasting and guys I'm not really a fan of beer but I am a fan of downtown and Marissa and Free People.

Happy Tuesday! xo
